First week in the Mission Field!

So I  am, now in California! It is a lot warmer then Utah and Colorado. It has been about 70 degrees. On Wednesday  morning I said goodbye to the MTC and my district there. We took a bus to the train station in Provo we then took two different trains to get to the Salt Lake Airport. This was definitely the hardest part of traveling to California. We had to carry all of our luggage with us on the trains. I was grateful that Sister Fish convinced me to buy a luggage strap. We got through security really fast once we got to the airport. I then got to call Mom and Dad I had to try several different pay phones before it worked. Their was also a Hermana from the Dominican Republic who started learning English when she went to the MTC I tried to help her call her family, but they did not answer the phone. I was grateful that I was able to talk to my family. I also got McDonald's with her which was her first time eating at a restaurant in the United States.
When then flew to the San Diego Airport and had about an hour of driving to get to the mission office in Vista. They fed us burritos and we had some training and had interviews with the mission President. They also told us the Elder Uchtdorf would be coming to our mission this weekend. We were then assigned companions. I was a little confused when they called two trainers up for me, and I wondered which Sister was my trainer. It turns out that we are in a trio which is really fun. So I have two trainers. My two companions are Sister Grant and Sister Walters. Sister Grant is from Riverton Utah and is on the last transfer of her mission. Sister Walters is from Arizona and went to CSU for a little bit. She says that she lived with Katia's family in Fort Collins. The ward we are over is Vista 10, we share the ward with a set of Elders so we have five missionaries for one ward. Our area is has lots of hills and skinny roads. I did not have to buy a bike because our area is all car. It is very green here and there are lots of palm trees. I learned that the palms grow from the top and eventually die and then need to be trimmed off and that is what causes the ridges on the trees.
We taught several people  this week. My first lesson was with a man named Brian  who has three dogs that were climbing on us throughout the lesson. I have decided that I agree with Dad that one dog is plenty. It was cool that he watched Mormon message video and wanted to share it with us. Yesterday we were tracting and taught the restoration to a lady she was really friendly and wants to know more. It was awesome.

We had a special mission conference with Elder Uchtdorf. We took a mission picture, but they have not sent it to me yet so I will send it when I get it. He and the the other brethren with him shock all of our hands and taught us a lot of great things. We also had a special stake conference with Elder Uchtdorf on Sunday. The stake center has two chapels and is huge. They had the primary children sing I am a Child of God and they sang the chorus in German which was really cute. I think that it is interesting that at the MTC none of the Quorum of the twelve visited and as soon as I get in the mission field Elder Uchtdorf visits.  So I had a great week with a lot of new experiences and changes. It is great to be doing the Lord's work.
