Service and the San Diego Temple!

Image
May 6, 2019 Dear Family, We went to the temple this week. It is probably the last time that I will get to go to the San Diego temple. It was cool because I know enough people that we run into people from old areas at the temple which is fun. We did a lot of service this week. We did some yard work and helped a lady move. We painted too. One of the Sister wrote her name in big letters in the wall while painting.   We have been trying to meet Susan all week. We have been texting her back and forth. We shared some uplifting thoughts and scriptures. She told us that we are helping her clear the cobwebs away to God. I was kind of confused but Sister Rigby thought it was super sweet. She was saying that we are helping her be closer to God, by helping her focus on what really matters. Love, Sister Vernon

PANCAKES

APRIL 29, 2019 -PANCAKES We did a seminary breakfast for the youth to invite friends to. Sister Rigby and I cooked a lot of pancakes. There was quite a few kids that came and we know of some that are interested in coming to Church. It is kind of funny because about half the youth all invited the same person, but at least she came. We helped Eddie and Irma move. They acted like they would not need much help and when we got there they had a lot of heavy furniture that needed moving. So we called some Elders over and they helped us. I don't think they would have been able to move successfully without our help. We also helped a lady work on moving. She has so much stuff there is no way she is going to be out on time, but she is very thankful for our help. We started teaching a lady named Susan. We only talked to her on the phone and have not meet her in person yet. She seems ready to accept the gospel and we are excited to start teaching her. Love, Sister Vernon A pe

The Messiah

APRIL 22, 2019--THE MESSIAH We went to seminary and made an announcement in one of the classes. I forgot we were going that morning so I got dressed and started exercising. When Sister Rigby came out she was in a dress and was ready to go. So I had to change and we went to the Church. Next week we are doing a breakfast with the kids to invite their friends to. It sounds like some of them have already invited friends. We had a blitz in our area which means other Missionaries came and worked in our area to help us find people to teach. The Elders found a lady named Liz, that we might be able to teach. The Church did a big fancy production of Handel's Messiah. We have been inviting a lot of people to come to it for awhile. They had professional soloists and an orchestra. The first night a lady and her daughter came that we have been trying to get in contact with. The second night Irma came. We had a bold lesson this week with Irma and her husband and stopped teaching them. So

April 15, 2019 We Sent our district Leader to the Hospital, Bird of Paradise flower

APRIL 15, 2019 -WE SENT OUR DISTRICT LEADER TO THE HOSPITAL Dear Family, We did the Lemonade stand outside the High School again this week. A woman came up to us and answered a question and then got some Lemonade. She went over to the cross walk and then came back and asked of she could pray for us. She said a super sweet prayer. It was cool to feel her Spirit and testimony even though she is not a part of our Church. We were doing service for Vergie, we have done service for her a few times before. She wanted some of the Elders to come and help to so they could lift some heavy things. We thought it was some pretty small bricks that she wanted help with, but we brought some Elders anyway. She had the Elders lifting big cement bricks, not what we thought she needed help with, while Sister Rigby and I were planting some little plants. We heard the Elders drop the brick and it landed on Elder Meyer's toes. His toes looked pretty bad and none of the mission nurses pr the mission
