First letter
Hello,
At the start of the week I was busy getting ready for my mission. The parents and I got caught up on all the Once Upon A Time. In the evening we went to President Foster's house so I could be set apart as a missionary . It was memorable because the power in our house went out while we were getting ready. It was an adventure having to get ready in the dark. My parents and I drove to Utah so they could drop me off at the MTC (the Mormon tabernacle choir) just kidding the missionary training center although we do sing lots of hymns. There was some snow and ice on the drive, but we made it safely. It was amazing seeing Aaron, Emily, Gabe, Kate, and Cory. It was extra fun going to the children's museum in Lehi with them.
My family and I had a tearful good bye when they dropped me off at the MTC. I miss you, but it is good to be serving the Lord and making new friends. My companion is Sister Fish she is from Texas area and is significantly taller than me at 5 foot 11. Sister fish really loves dogs and has some cool doggie socks. she is really nice and we are getting along great so far. there are six sisters in my district and they all are awesome. Sister Fish and I are the only missionaries in our district going to California the rest are going different places in the United States.
When we went to our residency the first night, we did not have sheets or blankets. Eventually our sister trainers found sheets and a thin blanket for each of us. The heat was not on in our room initially either. consequently we were all really cold the first night. for last night we were able to obtain more blankets and turn the heat on and sleep a lot more comfortably.
We have had a few opportunities to practice teaching. We taught one of our teachers and it went well. it was funny because all the missionaries in our district taught our teacher in the same scenario. We were talking about how it went afterwards and some of the other missionaries were shocked when we told them that the person we taught had a five year old daughter.
Today we got to exercise for the first time at the mtc which was fun. we also went to the Provo temple. it is a lot bigger than the Fort Collins temple. we went with our zone, but the elders were too slow and did not make it into the same session as us.
With lots of Love Sister Vernon
