LET’S STOP BY ANYWAY/TRANSFERS We had a lot of appointments fall through and a couple of them we decided to stop by even though the lesson was cancelled. This happened with Petra, she called us when we were almost to her house and cancelled. We had spent about an hour getting to her house so we decided to stop by. We were able to talk to her and give her a Spanish copy of the Book of Mormon. This also happened with Rachel she had cancelled a few lessons all for the same reason. We decided to stop by her even though she cancelled. When we knocked she told us about a man who told her bad things about the Church that really concerned her. She said that she thought she would like us to stop by even though she cancelled. We ended up being able to teach her and answer some of her questions. She still has not come to Church though, hopefully soon. We got a call Armando a returning member we are working with. Ye was really sad and wanted someone to talk to right then. We ended up vis

PANTS!

Image
We got pants this week. So we wore a pants a few times this week. The first time we wore pants we had a lot of success. So the pants seem to be working. One lady we met talked to us for a while and called us adorable a lot. She was fixing a fence and we were able to help her a little bit. We did a Church tour with Rachel. She enjoyed it, but still did not come to Church yesterday. We also taught a lady named Petra, she said she normally does not open the door to people and feels like the Lord sent us to her. We had a full mission meeting with the Area President Elder Pearson. It was very good. He talked about how we have Light in our eyes and we need to work hard to be obedient and follow the Lord. In July our mission will be changing. Some parts will go to Riverside Mission and San Diego Mission and Irvine will be added to our Mission. So I might finish up the last transfer of my mission in a different mission. Love, Sister Vernon

It was great being able to talk to all of you on Christmas. We got to watch the William's kids open presents which was really fun. They were so cute and excited for Christmas. Starting on Christmas Sister Kovach got sick so we spent a lot of time resting this week, so the week was kind of slow. Sister Kron went out with me twice while her companion stayed with Sister Kovach. When Sister Kron went out with me and we came back to our apartment it looked like both our companions were sleeping. So we took the crockpot that I was making chicken in and went to eat it in the backyard so not to wake then up. When we got there we texted them that we were in the backyard having dinner and that they could join us. They came out a few minutes later and apparently had not even been sleeping. So we had a nice picnic together outside. We taught Rachel again, she wants to share what she is learning with her children and her friends which is really exciting. She is nervous to come to Chu

December 24, 2018 Sharing the Light of the World

We had a good week sharing and doing a lot of Light the World and Christmas stuff. We had our mission Christmas Party. We went to Vista for it which was fun because it was my first area. They had a talent show and a lot of the missionaries did some funny things. It was fun seeing all the missionaries. We went caroling a few times with our district. It was really successful. Some of the people said that they had never had anyone Carol to them before. It made them a lot more open to talking with us. We went on exchanges. I was with Sister Jorgenson in our area. We went caroling with some members if the ward at an assisted living home. I played the piano for it and everyone else sang. It was really fun. We started teaching a lady named Rachel. Her Sister is a member of the Church and she has seen how it has blessed her Sister's life. She has started reading the Book of Mormon. We shared the Restoration with her and she wants to share it with her son too. When we finished she

My Companion needed to go to the Doctor so we got to borrow another set of Sister's car and drove to La Jolla to go to the Doctor. It took most of the day and it was an adventure. We got to see the ocean too which was cool. We helped make cookies for the Relief Society cookie exchange. It was fun and we met some new people and the cookies were tasty too.  We got a phone call from Tim who we met at the ward Christmas party last week. He wanted to take us to dinner. We had a nice dinner with him and Sister Townsend who is his friend that brought him to the Christmas party. However he said he is happy were he is and does not want to take the lessons. It sounds like he recognizes that there is something good about the people in the Church, but does not want to change his life.  We had all the missionaries in the district come and work in our area for an evening. We had a lot of success from that and found a new person to teach named Petra. PICTURES Making cookies for Ch
