 Zone Conference


Hello,
This week we had exchanges. Sister Walters left and I was in charge of our area. I drove for the first time in California. The mission has a thing in the car to tell you when you speed and if you are driving aggressively.   My card to log in it did not work so it kept telling us that there was no driver for the entire day. So I successfully drove around the windy streets of Vista and even on the Californian freeway, although I think I am slower than most the drivers.

We were walking on a street and talked to a girl that mostly speaks Chinese. We were able to change the language on my phone so she could see stuff in her language which was cool.

Our 2017 Toyota Corolla had a recall. We had to go to Carlsbad to fix the car. When we got there they said that the recall was recalled. Our car still needed maintenance so it was not a wasted trip. The place where our car got fixed was really close to the ocean so we walked to see the ocean which was beautiful. There was a man from the Philippines there that we gave a Book of Mormon to. He said that he had seen missionaries in the Philippines and thought it was cool that we were in California too. We told him that there are Missionaries all over the world. 

Some of the Elders had a baptism on Saturday and said they were in desperate need of a pianist so we were able to go to a baptism. All the people were really late and we had to wait for the font to fill so I ended up doing prelude music for about an hour and a half. Which was fun, but I started to forget which songs I had already played. The baptism eventually happened and everything turned out great. 

We were late to our dinner yesterday. Sister Walters and I were 15 minutes early to dinner so we decided to walk down the street and contact people. We ended up talking for about 45 minutes with a man on their street. We knew it made us late, but we felt that it was more important to talk with the man we might never have the opportunity to share the gospel with again than to be on time to dinner.

Sister Walters has been a little sick so we went to our apartment early yesterday and are going to relax more today than normal. 

The Sisters have been teaching Bryan since before I came to Vista. He has been struggling coming to church, but he came yesterday. He has some health challenges that make it hard to come. We have been praying that he would be given the strength to come and he did and had a great time. We went to lunch with Bryan at the Senior Center this week too. There was a lot of people who asked why we were there. They also said we were too young and pretty to be at the Senior Center.

We had some adventures with our fire alarm this week. We have two fire alarms one from the mission and one from the apartment complex. The apartment complex fire alarm kept going off when we were trying to sleep. It kept going off like crazy. The first night we eventually prayed that the alarm would stop so we could sleep and it did. But in the morning it started going crazy again so we went and told the manager and they sent someone over to fix it. Then later that night the alarm went crazy again and we had to call and get permission to deactivate the alarm. It then was quiet for the night, but went crazy again in the morning. Eventually the maintenance man got us a brand new fire alarm and we have been good since then. We knew that there was not a reason for us to leave the apartment because our other fire alarm that is more trustworthy was not going off at all.

New companion and area

May 27, 2019 ELLAINA Last Monday we sent Sister Rigby home and said goodbye to the Calavera ward. I then packed and got ready to come to Morgan Hill. A member drove me up to the new area. I was expecting my companion to already be here, but no one could be her companion in the time that she waited in Temecula so she was still in her old area. The member that drove me stayed until she got here. We did not really know what to do the first day because the area book on our phones did not update to the new area until the second day. So we mostly cleaned the apartment and talked. We then got the area book and have been able to work and figure out were our area is. It is one really big hill that is hard to bike up, but is fun to bike down. So it is easier on the way home.  We are starting to figure out were everything is and who we are working with. We are having a Family Home Evening lesson tonight so we made the armo r of God for it. The light saber was just in our apartment. We made a breastplate too, but Sister Henrie was still working on it when I took the picture  A place that we walk by a lot with a bunch of potted plants. June 28, 2018 Hello,  I got my first Media Referrals this week, or people that have said they will meet with the missionaries on  mormon.org . The first one we got went to an address that did not exist. We were able to text the person and get his address and left the Bible he requested at his house because he was not there when he said he would be. We got a 2nd online Referral and he says he wants to become a Mormon. Unfortunately, he lives slightly outside our ward.  We had Zone Conference this week in Carlsbad.
