APRIL 15, 2019 -WE SENT OUR DISTRICT LEADER TO THE HOSPITAL
Dear Family, We did the Lemonade stand outside the High School again this week. A woman came up to us and answered a question and then got some Lemonade. She went over to the cross walk and then came back and asked of she could pray for us. She said a super sweet prayer. It was cool to feel her Spirit and testimony even though she is not a part of our Church.

We were doing service for Vergie, we have done service for her a few times before. She wanted some of the Elders to come and help to so they could lift some heavy things. We thought it was some pretty small bricks that she wanted help with, but we brought some Elders anyway. She had the Elders lifting big cement bricks, not what we thought she needed help with, while Sister Rigby and I were planting some little plants. We heard the Elders drop the brick and it landed on Elder Meyer's toes. His toes looked pretty bad and none of the mission nurses pr the mission President answered the phone. So they went to the hospital. We thought his toe was broken, but miraculously it was not. He just has to stay off it for a few days.

Samuel and Regan, who we meet with last week, suddenly moved to a different city, so we will help them contact the Missionaries there. Love, Sister Vernon
We walked a lady's dogs, we called her and she was telling us about a lot of the health struggles she is having right now, so I offered to walk her dogs, on said walk we saw this weird thing on the sidewalk. It is a ton of bees all on the ground. I don't know what caused them to be like that. I would have got a closer picture, but the little doggie also wanted to investigate the bees and I couldn't get closer with him, there are lots of pretty flowers I'm California.

When I first got to California I was shocked to learn that this flower was called a Bird of Paradise. To me they looked more Birds of Prey with a huge sharp beak at the bottom. I thought they were ugly. Then I realized that the evil looking beak at the bottom is not the part that resembles a beautiful bird, but it is the blue and yellow part on top. Since then I look at the flowers and see their beauty and understand how they are a Bird of Paradise and not of prey. Similarly how I misunderstood this flower we sometimes view ourselves and others in a negative light. We all have strengths and are children of God. When we change our perspective to see the beauty and divine nature in all of God's creations we are able to experience greater joy. We can learn to see the beauty in both people and flowers.
