Hello,  We were able to do a lot of service this week. We helped a Sister clean her house, her husband needs constant care and supervision so it is hard for her to do. We also stopped by a Sister in the ward who just moved in. Her father who is not a member of the church answered the door and told us that they were painting a room in their house and that his daughter would be home tomorrow. So we came back the next day dressed in work clothes and helped them pick oranges and peel wall paper off their wall. It was cool because he does not want to listen to the lessons, but he is curious about us and asked us questions while we worked. We also helped a lady prepare to move so that later she will be able to move without complications.  We went on a mini exchange with the Hermanas. They tracked into a guy that wanted to take the lessons, but because he does not speak Spanish we get to teach him. Sister Walters and I went with Hermana Pierce to teach him. It went well we are ...

Beautiful Art   If you look close, you can see the ocean. Snails are all over in CA This is my first week typing on a computer instead of my phone, it is a little bit easier to type on the computer. At the beginning of the week we had exchanges and Sister Walters and I were with Sister Portez. We did a lot of   service together. We helped a lady in our ward clean. She has someone moving in with them and wants more open space. She is a painter and her entire basement was full of paintings most of which she is going to throw away. We helped her take them outside next to her dumpster. They were beautiful paintings, but you cannot keep everything. We had a family home evening with Josie, James and their children at a member's house. It was great! The member family lead the lesson and explained what a Family Home Evening is. They also came to church again this week. I think that James and their son are also going to go on a Scout Camp out with the Young...

Hello! We went to Carlsbad this week for a zone conference. We got close enough to the ocean that I could see a boat on it. They talked about how we can use Facebook and that we need to use it for our missionary purpose. That is really all the guidance on facebook. It is a great thing to be able to use Facebook because we can communicate better with people. There was one lady that we were really struggling to contact her and now we can Facebook her and she responds.  We went to a park and handed out family history cards and pamphlets. Lots of people do not want to hear what we have to say or they say that they already know Jesus, but are willing to look into family history.  We went to a relief society activity, which was great. Josie and her daughter came to it. Josie seemed to already be friends with lots of the ladies including the Relief Society President. We made little peg people and painted them. I sent a picture of mine. I started out going for seven people f...

This week was busy and great. We are getting a lot of new investigators. One is a lady named Josie,  I think I wrote a bit about her last week. We found her through tracting. We had dinner with a family in the ward this week that Josie said she knew from high school. We told them about Josie and they were really excited because they took her to seminary and stuff when she was in high school. We took the members with us to a lesson with Josie and her husband and the Spirit was really strong. It was great to see their reunion. We invited them to work towards baptism and they accepted!  We also had a good lesson with a girl named Vanessa she has two young kids and is a cute family.  We had exchanges this week and Sister Walters went to a different area and Sister Grant and I stayed here with Sister Overson we did a lot of tracting with her. I think some of the people did not notice when we came back with a different Sister because both Sister Walters and Overson have ...

First week in the Mission Field!

So I  am, now in California! It is a lot warmer then Utah and Colorado. It has been about 70 degrees.  On Wednesday   morning I said goodbye to the MTC and my district there. We took a bus to the train station in Provo we then took two different trains to get to the Salt Lake Airport. This was definitely the hardest part of traveling to California. We had to carry all of our luggage with us on the trains. I was grateful that Sister Fish convinced me to buy a luggage strap. We got through security really fast once we got to the airport. I then got to call Mom and Dad I had to try several different pay phones before it worked. Their was also a Hermana from the Dominican Republic who started learning English when she went to the MTC I tried to help her call her family, but they did not answer the phone. I was grateful that I was able to talk to my family. I also got McDonald's with her which was her first time eating at a restaurant in the United States. When then flew to...

February 9, 2018 Last full week at MTC

Hello family and friends, This was my last full week in MTC. We had new practice investigators this week. The first girl seemed really  familiar. It turns out that she is one of the investigators  that we taught our first day at the MTC with a big group of missionaries. Our other investigator is pregnant and wants to know what church to raise her child in. Our lessons went pretty good. We had a devotional  on Tuesday  with a general authority whose first language is Spanish, he and his wife were a little hard to understand but they shared a great message. We are now the most experienced missionaries in our zone and are the next ones to leave the MTC.  We had a training were the teachers put on a play for us about working with members. One of the Elders in it was similar to Elder Calhone in the best two years, it was funny.  The highlight of the week was being host missionaries for the new missionaries. I got to host three Sisters. They all seemed exci...

Hello family! This week was great we started teaching our trcs or our practice  investigators.  We taught two different people. A girl named Christine progressed great with us and completed all the commitment we give her. She even prayer with us which was special. Our other trc  was a little harder for us to teach. She is from Mongolia and grew up Buddhist, because of that she does not understand how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are and why we need them in our lives. Sister  Fish and I tried to help her and I think is she continues to be taught at the MTC she will progress.  I also lost my water bottle this week. I left it in our orientation  for teaching trcs and when we came back for it it was gone. We looked in several lost and founds but I haven't found it yet. They have a lot of different lost and founds so I bet it is in a lost and found that I don't  know were is.  Another Sister missionary joined our companionship while her com...
